  Mental Health Connection
       
                     Coping with Depression   

1. Have a good support system to encourage and
motivate you to socialize.
2. Exercise – Research has shown it reduces
symptoms of depression.
3. Find a creative outlet or a hobby you enjoy.
4. Relax – Do something that relaxes you like taking
a hot bath or watching a movie.
5. Relinquish control. You can’t control everything.
When you go with the flow, it can reduce your
depression.
6. Keep a routine. A routine gives structure to your
day.
7. Journal - A journal is a good way to both vent
your frustrations and to look back and see how
much progress you have made. It also helps you
realize sometimes things that were a big deal in the
moment is not such a big deal when you look back.
